2023年5月21日リリースの最新作『Rainy day』で4ピースバンド、Fair groundが帰ってきた！ラテンのアクセントを効かせたマイナーキーのフレーズが、グルーヴ感たっぷりの8ビートから6拍子へと移り変わる、感情を揺さぶるアレンジが特徴的なこの楽曲。竹形聡志(Gt)は、「99年当時はほとんどライブ演奏はされなかったこの楽曲は、今だからこそ深みを帯びた演奏になったと思う」とコメント。再会して初めてのレコーディングとなった井地俊介(Dr)は、「ヒロムの歌やメンバーの音に改めて感動しました。いろいろが自然な流れの中で起きた記念すべき曲」と話す。20数年ぶりの再会に青木義治(Ba)は、「バンドって面白い。今の僕らの音を聴いてほしい。まだまだほんの一部だけどね」と意気込みを語る。ボーカルの岸本ヒロムは、「この曲のテーマは雨の日の孤独。と、憂うつ。吹き飛ばさずに、浸ってください。溺れるように」と、聴き手に深い感情体験を呼びかけている。今作を聴けば、Fair groundが20数年の時を経て、より深みを増したサウンドを奏でることがわかるはずだ。

Fair ground, a four-piece rock band that recorded anew in 2023, presents their unreleased track "Rainy day". This emotional arrangement seamlessly transitions from Latin-accented phrases to minor-key phrases and from 8-beat to 6-beat. The song's unique qualities are impressive.
The members have a message for their listeners. Gt. Satoshi Takegata says, "In 1999, this song was rarely played live. I think it has become a more profound performance now." Dr. Shunsuke Iji says, "This was our first recording after we reunited. I was moved by Hiromu's vocals and the band's sound once again. This is a memorable song that came together naturally." Ba.
